• Environmental field study areas
Botanic Garden
Across the three-corners near the main gate of the Su-won Campus, you can see a sign for the botanic garden about 300 meters away from the Su-in crossroads. The expansive garden is used for botanical studies and medical experiments. The former president of the garden, Mr. Shim, also known as “Dr. Rose of Sharon” planted approximately 250 species of the flower to form the shape of the Korean peninsula. It’s an amazing site especially in August when all the flowers bloom. The park opens from 9 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening and is closed on weekends and national holidays. Tel. +82-31-294-3369
Environment Plant
Between the purification plant and tennis court near the Research complex 1 at the Su-won Campus, you can see a beautiful water mill. Next to the mill is the environment plant which filtrates various pollutants produced within the campus. The nation’s number one quality and scale facility consists of a waste water disposal plant, a sewage treatment plant, and crematory. A school of carp lives in the first class purified water in the pond and it becomes a perfect date spot for couples at night with candle-light parties. Wild flowers, bird cages, and deer pens surround the plant, making it an ideal on-the-spot study field. This is a popular environment study field for both students and residents and you can make a reservation for a group guide program which also includes an educational video. It takes from 30 minutes to 1 hour and you can pick up some environmentally friendly soap made from waste cooking oil. The plant is open from 9:00 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening Monday through Friday, and also on weekends and national holidays if you do not need a group guide. Tel. +82-31-290-5740
