□ External Scholarship Grantees Screening

-
When external scholarship organizations ask for recommendations for scholarship grantees, the Student Affairs Team will consider each department’s number of students, organizations’ requests (there are cases of asking for specific majors) and and ask for each department to recommend some students. Each department will consider academic results, financial circumstances etc. to screen students, and will send the results back to the Student Affairs Team. Unless there are some defects in the departments’ recommendations, the Team will send the results to the organizations. The organizations will then, unless there are some objections, award the student with the scholarships.
-
External scholarship grantees are usually screened from students who have applied for scholarships. Therefore, it is important that students apply for scholarships during the application period.

□ External Scholarship Amount and Application Period

-
Most external scholarships tend to cover the full tuition fee. Also, once granted a scholarship, students are in principle entitled a continuance of their scholarships. Please try your best to become an external scholarship grantee.

2) Scholarship Administration

(1) Scholarship Applications

① Outline

Students must apply for internal scholarships every semester during the designated application period to receive the scholarships. It is especially important that students apply for scholarships because external scholarships are usually awarded to those who apply for internal scholarships.

② Scholarships awarded without application

-
Academic Excellence Scholarship, Continued Scholarships (Toe Gye, World Star, Samsung, Jang Yeong Sil, Yul Gok, Children of Patriot’s, Patriot, Sungkyun Welfare for Children of Staff/Professors/ International Students Scholarship etc).
-
However, for Continued Scholarships, on coming back to school after leave of absence, grantees must finish the coming back to school procedures and come to the Student Affairs Team to receive a scholarship certificate.

③ Application Period

-
Scholarship application period for each semester is around the end of the previous semester. For example, to receive scholarship during the second semester of 2007, students must apply at the end of the first semester.
-
Scholarship application periods are notified on each department’s office notice board. Please check it regularly.

④ Documents needed for application

Complete and submit the “Scholarship Application” form found at each department’s office. Any related documents must be submitted at the same time. Related documents will be notified separately.

(2) Presenting Scholarships

① Tuition Waiver

Scholarships, in principle, waive tuition fee. This means that the amount of scholarship will be shown on the “Tuition Fee Notification” sent every semester, and the students will pay the tuition fee minus the scholarship.

② Handing out scholarship certificates

In special cases such as replacement of grantees, returning to school after a leave of absence for grantees of Continued Scholarships or awarding external scholarships, scholarship certificates will be handed out.

③ Students who received scholarships through certificates

When grantees receive scholarship certifications, they should go to the school “Woori Bank” with the certificates to receive the scholarship in cash. If grantees have not paid the tuition fee yet, they should also take the amount of tuition fee minus scholarship payment to pay. If grantees have already paid, they should also take the tuition fee receipt to receive the scholarship.
