Q) Can I stay in the dorm for just a few days?
A) If you were previously an exchange student or are currently an exchange student, it is possible as long as there are vacancies.
Q) How can I buy a transportation card? What is the advantage of the card?
A) You can buy a transportation card in the convenience store nearby. It costs 2~6 Euros. You can charge the card in the convenience store or the subway station. The advantage of a transportation card is that you can transfer to the bus from the subway or to the subway from the bus for free. Using the card is also cheaper than using cash.
Q) How can I buy a mobile phone?
A) Often foreigners buy a second hand mobile phone. They are available at most cell phone stores. These are usually prepaid phones that you can charge with credit using a special card.
Q) Why should I pay a deposit for the key?
A) Many students have lost their room keys and mistakenly took the keys back to their country. We would like students to take more care of their keys. You can get the deposit back when you leave the dorm and hand in the key.
Q) What time can I check in to the dorm?
A) You may check in from 6am to 9pm. Outside those hours you will need to get permission from the manager.
Q) Is there something I should do, when I check in to the dorm?
A) When you check in, you should pay \10,000 (around 7Euro) as a deposit for the key, and then you have to fill out the resident form.
Q) If I would like to change my bedclothes, what can I do?
A) When you check in the dorm for the first time, we provide you with clean bedclothes. After that we do not clean them, but you can wash them yourself in the washing room.
Q) Can I change rooms or roommates?
A) Fundamentally, changing rooms or roommates are not allowed, but if there is a special case, we will allow students to move to a new room.
Q) Is it possible to have a single room, if I pay extra?
A) It is impossible to have a single room, even though you pay more money.However, you can use a single room in the apartment. Reservation in advance is necessary for this.
Q) If my family visit me, can I let them stay in the dorm?
A) If there are vacant rooms, we can let them stay in the dorm for a few days, but first,
you need a permission from the Accommodation Manager.
Q) Can I let my friends sleep in the dorm?
A) No, you cannot. if you are caught doing this, you will be asked to leave the dorm.
Q) Will you provide me with toiletries?
A) We provide toiletries once when you first move in, after that you should buy them independently.
Q) I'm going to be out of the dorm for a few days. Can I get a refund for the days I'm away?
A) Discount is not allowed for a few days or even weeks. However if you move into a new residence and out of the dorm, we will refund the money if you leave before the end of the
month you have paid for.
Q) How can I get the post? What is the address of the dorm?
A) Name,# Room, 61-1 Myeongnyun-dong3-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul 110-745Korea.
If you would like to receive postal mail from abroad, you should write your name and room number and the address above. But if you live in Migaon Vill, you can use the address of the international office:
Name, International Office, Sungkyunkwan University, 53 Myeongnyun-dong 3-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul 110-745 Korea.
Q) Can I stay in the dorm after the semester?
A) Yes. If there is vacancy in the dorm, we can let you stay in.
Q) Then, how can I pay for the housing fee after the semester?
A) You might pay for 10,000won a day. For instance, if you stay in the dorm for 5days, you can pay 50,000won.
Q) Can I extend my stay without any permission?
A) If you didn't get the permission from the manager, you will not be able to stay in the dorm.
