"Sungkyunkwan
University produces next generation's global NT leaders."
The first project of the Vision 2010+ plan
Developing a nano-semiconductor materials-devices field
The challenge of Sungkyunkwan University to be one of the
top 100 universities in the world in 2010 can be actualized
by the plan Vision 2010+. Sungkyunkwan University made this
plan strategically to select and develop the core technology
so that Sungkyunkwan University can be competitive in the
21st century's knowledge based international society.
It is the first goal of the plan Vision 2010+ to establish
a world-class institute in a nano- semiconductor materials-devices
field, and the SKKU Graduate School of Nano Science and Technology
has been established to achieve this goal.
The hub of the cutting-edge nano-technology research
Sungkyunkwan University Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology
(SAINT)
In March 2005, Sungkyunkwan University established Sungkyunkwan
University Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT) to
develop cutting edge nanotechnology. SAINT has invited Prof.
Sumio Iijima who first discovered carbon nanotubes as the
first dean, and employed 25 faculty members including 3 distin-guished
chair professors.
SAINT, located in the 11,200㎡ floor spaced Research PlazaⅡ,
will enlarge the facilities to 20,000㎡ by 2010, and establish
a “nano-town” that connects Sung-kyunkwan University, Samsung,
and Korea Advanced Nano Fab Center.
"SKKU Graduate School of Nano Science and Technology is the
hub for cutting edge nanotechnology."
Global & Creative NT leaders leading future nanoscience
and technology
SKKU Graduate School of Nano Science and Technology will
be the main educational center for producing future generation's
'Global & Creative NT Leaders'. For this, we plan to arrange
educational programs to satisfy social needs for nanoscience
and technology and offer a systematic education focusing on
NT related fundamental sciences and applied technologies.
We also plan to organize successful industry-academia co-organized
programs to help spur a new industrial revolution through
nanotechnology with the world-leading company Samsung.
To be the best institute in Korea and one of the World
top 5 in nanotechnology
SAINT strives to have outstanding faculty members with profound
knowledge of nano theory including internationally recognized
researchers in the nano arena and research active professionals
in industry. We will also provide practical, hands-on education
through the up-to-date facilities of the Korea Advanced Nano
Fab Center. With these world class faculty members and facilities,
the SKKU Graduate School of Nano Science and Technology aims
to achieve the position of number one locally and top 5 internationally
in this field.
