SKKU offers several mass media platforms to advance of students’ learning, education and public opinion through prompt delivery of news and various constructive opinions and criticisms in and out of the university.
SKKU Newspaper or SKKU Weekly is SKKU’s mass media organization, first established in September 20, 1954 in the name of Jugan Seongdae(Weekly Sungkyunkwan University) to promote public opinion through constructive opinions and criticisms and to send out messages within and out of the university to its students, faculty and alumni. It is the first media organization to be established at SKKU. The Weekly SKKU established its solid foundation during the April 19 Revolution in 1960 and the title was changed to Seongdae Shinmun (Sungkyunkwan University Newspaper). Currently, the SKKU Newspaper publishes articles on university news, academics, public opinion, society and culture weekly, or 11 times per semester. SKKU Newspaper stands for progress, future and hope and contributes in making a healthy student society.
Sungkyun Times is one of mass media organizations of SKKU and is published mostly in English. It was established to promote public opinion through constructive opinions and criticisms and to make newspaper production a part of students’ extracurricular activities.
SKKU Broadcasting Station was established with the purpose of creating a healthy academic environment through advancement of students’ learning and education by broadcasting promotion of general studies and prompt reporting of announcements. The broadcasting station carries out regular broadcasts, special broadcasts and various cultural broadcasting events
Sungkyun Webzine or SKKUZine is SKKU’s official webzine. Since its first publication in 2001, SKKUZine has been offering university-related news to lift up people with love and pride for SKKU and is working actively to promote the reputation and progress of SKKU to alumni at home and abroad, parents and prospective students and to become a genuine link between all readers.
Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School Newspaper was first published in the name of Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School Newspaper (September 1, 1998) and was republished under the name Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School Webzine on September 17, 2002. Then, the title was again changed to EDDIANS in May 2003. It is SKKU’s webzine that is created by graduate students and a space for students’ true voices.
Sungkyunji was first published in 1946 and SKKU’s Student National Defense Corp Literary Club published until the 36th issue and the University Magazine Editing Committee began to publish after that. During this time, Sungkyunji was changed from a university-affiliated organization to an independent student body.
Jeongjeongheonis another magazine of Sungkyunkwan University. It was first published in 1972 as a literary magazine for female students but now it is regarded as one of most prestigious feminist magazines along with Seoksun of Korea University and Nokji of Chung-Ang University. The magazine aims to view, criticize and learn from the society in a feministic way. To reach out to students more closely, the magazine changed its format in 2003 and is published every semester.
