|TITLE||Development of a Low Cost, Highly Efficient Catalyst to Convert Exhaust Fumes|
SKKU’s research team led by Prof. Young Dok KIM developed an oxidized steel catalyst using metal particles, sized 1nm. This catalyst can be used to convert carbon monoxide, a toxic substance usually discharged from automobiles, to carbon dioxide which is considered to cause no harm to the human body.
Unlike the white gold catalyst which is expensive and can be activated from 150°C, this new catalyst can be activated from room temperature at 30°C.
