The International Summer Semester (ISS) is a four-week summer experience that you will never forget. By bringing together students and faculty from Korea and around the world, the ISS is not only academically stimulating; it also offers an opportunity to make new friends and to discover Seoul and Korea.
The Seoul campus of SKKU is located close to the old city center in one of Asia’s largest, safest and most dynamic capitals. Seoul is home to some of Asia’s best universities, Korea’s government and broadcast media, numerous multinational corporations and a quarter of the entire Korean population.
SKKU's Natural Sciences Campus is located in Suwon, which is home to many innovative start-up and spin-off companies, as well as Samsung Electronics, the world's largest technology company. Surrounded by greenery and served by its own subway station, the Suwon campus offers a relaxed environment and easy access to southern Seoul.
The summer of 2017 marks the 10th ISS at SKKU. Since 2008 the ISS has been organized around current and multidisciplinary themes.
“Culture, Business and Technology in East Asia” (2008)
“Sustainable Global Prosperity” (2009)
“Recovery & Prosperity: Post Crisis & New Future” (2010)
“Challenges for the Next Decade” (2011)
“Sustainable Global Values - Convergence, Divergence and Collaboration” (2012)
“Designing a Sustainable Future” (2013)
“Mapping the Future for Shared Prosperity” (2014)
“New Paradigms of Sustainability - Equality and Collaboration” (2015)
“Global Synergy - Innovating through Collaboration” (2016)
“New Experience, New Engagement” (2017)
These themes are intended to inspire rather than restrict students’ academic initiative.
