Department of Economics Hosts Successful WAVE Special Lectures and Mentoring Program with International Scholars

The WAVE Special Lectures and the WAVE Tutorial/Mentoring Program, organized by the Department of Economics, concluded successfully. From May 20 (Mon) to May 25 (Sat), Professors Robert Webb (University of Virginia), Gilbert Park (Willamette University, Atkinson Graduate School of Management), Maria Kim (Univ. of Wollongong), Jens Müller-Merbach (Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences), and Jin-Young Yoo (Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University) visited Sungkyunkwan University to deliver lectures on Financial Economics, engage in face-to-face consultations, and provide guidance on research papers to students.

This program was supported by the Office of Academic Affairs (Dean Sang-hoon Bae), the Department of Economics BK21 Four Education Research Group (led by Dean Seong-hyeon Kim), the ICT Innovation Talent 4.0 Project Group (led by Professor Eun-il Park of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Convergence), and the Global Finance Research Center of the Economics Research Institute (headed by Director Doo-jin Ryu).

Professor Doo-jin Ryu from the Department of Economics commented, "From the beginning of the semester, our students received online advice on presentation content, research topics, and methodologies from the five international scholars. These scholars have now visited our university’s Global Finance Research Center to conduct lectures, mentoring, and research guidance. In alignment with the center's mission of 'Fostering Global Academic Successors,' after the completion of this semester's WAVE classes, we plan to facilitate follow-up research discussions and international exchange activities by having the undergraduate and graduate students who participated in the research projects visit renowned universities and institutions abroad."
