Successful Conclusion of the Sungkyun International Solar Forum (SISF) 2024: Halide Perovskites from Terrestrial to Space Applications at Sungkyunkwan University

The Sungkyun Institute of Energy Science and Technology (Director: Prof. Nam-Gyu Park) successfully hosted the Sungkyun International Solar Forum (SISF) 2024 from October 30 to November 1 at the 600th Anniversary Hall on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus of Sungkyunkwan University. Under the theme "Halide Perovskites: From Earth to Space," the forum explored next-generation solar cell technologies and the future of global energy transition, achieving significant milestones.
SISF 2024 brought together over 30 renowned scientists from around the world as speakers and approximately 320 participants from academia and industry. The event provided a platform for sharing cutting-edge research findings and fostering collaborations. Prof. Nam-Gyu Park, the organizing chair and a globally recognized authority on solar cell research, shared his insights, stating, “We have witnessed the limitless potential of perovskite technology expanding from Earth to space.” He also highlighted the forum's contributions to advancing technological breakthroughs and presenting a vision for the future.
Advances in Perovskite Solar Cells at SISF 2024
The forum focused on perovskite-based solar cell technologies, known for their higher efficiency and lower production costs compared to conventional silicon-based cells. Discussions emphasized the diverse applications of perovskites, including in aerospace, and fostered vibrant exchanges on new research directions and collaborative opportunities.
Prof. Park, a pioneer in next-generation solar cell development, has achieved a remarkable milestone, increasing the efficiency of perovskite solar cells from 3% to 26.7% within a decade. The forum delved into the commercialization potential of perovskite technologies and their critical role in the global energy transition.
SISF: A Hub for Global Energy Research
Sungkyunkwan University reinforced its position as a leader in global energy research through SISF 2024. The university emphasized the forum's role as a premier academic platform driving advancements in energy technologies. It stated, “SISF has firmly established itself as a hub for global academic exchange in energy technology.
