Keeping the Spirit of "In-Eui-Ye-Ji" Alive in 1398

-KB Kookmin Bank President Hwan-Joo Lee (Business '83) Donates 50 Million KRW to the 1398 University Development Fund


On Tuesday, February 11, KB Kookmin Bank President Hwan-Joo Lee (Business '83) visited Sungkyunkwan University’s 600th Anniversary Hall to present a donation of 50 million KRW to President Yoo Ji-Beom as part of the 1398 University Development Fund.


During the donation ceremony, President Lee expressed his wish for the funds to support the university’s growth, including education, research, and infrastructure. In appreciation, President Yoo presented him with a university souvenir and conveyed his gratitude.


This contribution is part of the 1398 Fundraising Campaign, inspired by Sungkyunkwan University’s founding year, and President Lee joined the campaign to support the continued development of his alma mater.

Reflecting on his alma mater’s guiding philosophy of In-Eui-Ye-Ji (Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, and Wisdom), President Lee shared his hopes that Sungkyunkwan University graduates, embodying these values, will continue to thrive in various fields.

President Yoo acknowledged the transformative impact of cutting-edge AI technology on society while emphasizing that the core values of In-Eui-Ye-Ji remain irreplaceable. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals with both character and competence.


Prior to this donation, President Lee had also contributed to the Student Meal Support Fund, demonstrating his ongoing dedication and generosity toward his alma mater.
