Central Library Hosts Year-End Reading Event <Kingo's Christmas> Blending AI Technology with Warmth of Reading

-AI Hologram Kingo becomes Santa to offer personalized book recommendations and gifts; students’ submitted “life-changing book quotes” are transformed into a golden ginkgo tree media art installation.

The Central Library held a special year-end event, <Kingo’s Christmas>, which combines cutting-edge AI technology with a warm reading culture.

This event was designed to provide students with a unique library experience utilizing digital technologies, while fostering a warm year-end atmosphere where individuals can share their sentiments through books.

A highlight of the event is a student-participatory media art installation inspired by our university’s symbolic ginkgo tree. Students submit a line from a book that changed their life via QR code, and these collected quotes form a large-scale Golden Ginkgo Tree media art installation in the lobby of the Central Library. This digital artwork, where countless glowing sentences come together, is expected to offer both comfort and visual beauty to all visitors.

In addition, the university mascot Kingo meets students through advanced hologram AI technology. The AI Kingo approaches students to initiate conversations and becomes an “AI Librarian” by recommending personalized books tailored to their moods and interests. In celebration of the Christmas season, Kingo transforms into an AI Santa, providing hints to help students locate hidden gift codes throughout the library, allowing them to receive various Christmas gifts.

A representative from the Library noted, “This <Kingo’s Christmas> event demonstrates that the university library is not merely a place for reading books, but a creative cultural space where advanced technologies and humanistic sensibilities converge.” They added, “We hope students create warm and special Christmas memories with AI Kingo under the ginkgo tree completed with their treasured lines.”
