2026 SKKU Running Day Successfully Held
- Student Council and College of Sport Science Student Council Jointly Host Event
to Promote a Healthy Campus Culture Through Running

The 58th Student Council and the Student Council of the College of Sport Science successfully held the 2026 SKKU Running Day on Thursday, April 30, at Global Plaza in front of the Samsung Library and across the Natural Sciences Campus.
The event was a student-led campus running program jointly organized by the Student Council and the Student Council of the College of Sport Science, with support from the Student Affairs Office. It was designed to foster a healthy university culture by encouraging students to run together across campus while strengthening interaction and a sense of belonging among members of the university community.
The program began with the operation of sports-related daytime booths, followed by an evening orientation session, nighttime running, completion verification and cooldown activities, and an after-party. After receiving safety instructions and course guidance during the orientation, participants selected courses suited to their individual abilities, including 1.398 km, 3 km, and 6.29 km routes.
The running courses were designed to loop through key campus locations, including Suseong Hall, the Main Stadium, the area in front of the Dormitory Shin, Haeoreum-gil, and the Student Center. Participants experienced the Natural Sciences Campus in a unique way by running through its major spaces, and upon completion, received finisher medals at Global Plaza before participating in cool down activities and a group photo session.
Systematic on-site management was also implemented to ensure the safe operation of the event. The Student Council and the Student Council of the College of Sport Science divided the running route into Sections A through E and assigned staff teams to each section to manage vehicle control, separate pedestrian traffic, guide participants to slow down in bottleneck areas, prevent course deviation, and restrict access by non-participants. In particular, additional personnel were stationed at areas where collisions were anticipated, including the Main Stadium, Haeoreum-gil, nearby smoking areas, and entrances to the Student Center and Library, in order to ensure the safety of both participants and pedestrians.
In preparation for potential emergencies on the day of the event, one EMS vehicle was stationed on the road in front of the School of Medicine, and a transfer system with nearby emergency medical institutions was established in advance. In cases of minor injuries, on-site treatment was provided by the event headquarters and EMS coordinators, while situations requiring hospital transport were addressed by immediately suspending the running activities and securing access routes for ambulances and patient transport.
Following the completion of the running event, an after-party and prize drawing were held at Global Plaza. Participants shared the sense of achievement from completing the course and enjoyed opportunities to interact with one another. The event concluded as a student culture program that went beyond simple athletic activity by combining health, participation, and community engagement.
Lee Sang Soo, President of the 58th Student Council of the Natural Sciences Campus, stated, “I hope SKKU Running Day served as an opportunity for students to experience the campus in a new way by running together and to strengthen their sense of belonging as members of SKKU,” adding, “We will continue to create diverse student culture programs in which students can actively participate and enjoy.”
The Student Affairs Office also announced plans to continue expanding student-led extracurricular and cultural programs so that students can cultivate a healthy student culture and experience a sense of belonging and community on campus through a variety of activities beyond academics.
