Prof. Chung Sik YOO of the School of Civil, Architectural Engineering & Landscape Architecture was elected to the 4th term presidency at the General Assembly of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) held in COEX, Seoul on September 19th.
The International Geotechnical and Geophysical Society is the world's only academic conference dealing with the development of functional materials for strengthening geotechnical performance of geotextiles, geomembranes, geogrids, and its application for sustainable construction technologies. The organization has branches in 46 countries and includes 4,000 individual members and 196 corporate members.
For the next four years (2018 ~ 2022), Prof. YOO is expected to actively pursue international activities by leading academic and technical activities in the field of new materials which are being used as core construction materials for sustainable construction technology.
