SKKU announced that it plans to virtually hold a live streaming ceremony for winter commencement 2021 on SKKU Homepage and YouTube on Feb 17 (Wed) 11 a.m. in consideration of the COVID-19 situation. At the ceremony, a total of 4,483 graduates received their degrees (2,830 Bachelor’s degrees, 1,364 Master’s degrees, and 289 Ph.D. degrees).

SKKU plans to hold a variety of events for virtual ceremony including congratulatory videos from alumni such as Ju-Won Kim, Vice President of Kakao who is playing a leading role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Jin-Young Ko, the World’s Top Golfer and Eun-Woo Cha, a popular entertainer in order to provide memorable ceremony for graduates who could not have offline graduation.

The SKKU’s traditional ritual called <Munmyo Goyurye> will also be available for virtual ceremony. It has established itself as a tradition of SKKU and is a ritual ceremony to visit Confucian Shrine when there are major school events such as entrance ceremonies and graduations.

Moreover, it will conduct a contest of writing <Comment in a sentence> about new year’s resolution, memories in school, one’s feelings about graduation and have time to share sincere feelings of graduates. They plan to have an event of taking photos of graduates receiving degrees by their parents or parents congratulating their children online and offline.

SKKU President Dong-Ryeol Shin said that “It is a shame not to have the last memories on Campus due to the COVID-19. Nonetheless, I hope them enjoy their online graduation through these colorful events. I also hope that all graduates will gather together to share their joy of graduation for summer commencement 2021.
