Successfully Completed The 4th 2020 High School Untact Start-up Coding Camp

‘2020 Summer Untact Start-up Coding Camp’ began with the opening ceremony on July 31(Fri) and ended with the closing ceremony on August 21 (Fri). The coding camp has been held annually as part of community contribution activities and was conducted as a hybrid of on/off-line to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The opening and closing ceremonies, where a large number of people gathered in one place, were conducted online, and the education for coding was conducted as a small offline class at school in compliance with the COVID-19 prevention guidelines.

About 90 students from three high schools located in Gyeonggi Province participated in this coding camp which was held by SKKU’s LINC+, IoT UNIC, and Start-up Support Center and supported by College of Information and Communication Engineering’s AI•IoT Education Support Center.

The presidents of three high schools and supervisors participated in opening and closing ceremonies online. At the opening ceremony, Yong-Seok Kim, the director of AI•IoT Education Support Center, gave the special lecture.

Participated students learned ‘Analog/digital sensor’, ‘Android App’, and ‘Google cloud’ for two days and they started the project on the third day. Each school formed 4~5 teams and the undergraduate students of College of Information and Communication Engineering supported each team as mentor. As a result, students were able to produce high-quality products such as ‘KF-H’, ‘Smart Showerhead’, and ‘Portable Intercom’.

Professor Joon-Ho Lee, dean of the College of Information and Communication, said at the opening ceremony, “It is a short period of time, but I hope the coding camp helped students to improve their algorithms, coding skills, and thinking skills, while understanding and practicing the concepts of the IoT.”

On behalf of the three high schools, Eui-Geun Lee, principal of Suwon Hi-tech High School, said at the closing ceremony, "I am happy that the program was carried out without cancellation, and I think it has been very helpful to the students. I hope the program will continue to develop in the future."
