Prof. Sunju Ahn (Department of Biophysics)’s Book

was Selected as Sejong Books Academic Sector (Technical Science Field) in 2022

Prof. Sunju Ahn (Department of Biophysics)’s book <Wars of Standards> was selected as the Sejong Books Academic Sector (Technology Science Field) in 2022.

<Wars of Standards> informs the importance of standardization and suggests various ways to survive the fiercely unfolding standard war. Without standards, it becomes a complex and inconvenient society where each standard is rampant. On the other hand, creating and sharing fair and transparent norms increases convenience and predictability. In that sense, standards are essential criteria for protecting human life, minimizing the waste of resources, and building a safe society. In Korea, more and more people want to know about standards as ‘standard’ is included as an achievement in the Act on Performance Evaluation and Performance Management of National R&D Projects.

However, most of the standard knowledge exists in the form of tacit knowledge. This book is a detailed guide that can change the Korean standard knowledge that relies on tacit knowledge into formal information. This is because it is a book that is sufficient to quench the thirst of those who desperately need standardization knowledge as it explains standardization methods and procedures with examples, while also containing the author’s know-how in developing numerous standards in the midst of the standards war. In particular, Prof. Ahn is leading international standardization in the fields of medical, health, and biotechnology.

Meanwhile, Prof. Ahn was selected in the Sejong Books Academic Sector for <Health Care and Standards in the Age of Artificial Intelligence> in 2020.
