Prof. Seong Woo Ji, Elected as the 30th Korean Constitutional Law Association President

SKKU Law School Prof. Seong Woo, Ji, has been elected as the 30th Korean Constitutional Law Association President. He was elected to be the next president under the consensus of members in a regular meeting held on December 2 at the Constitutional Court.


After his graduation from SKKU, Prof. Ji achieved his doctoral degree at the University of Mannheim with the theme of Media and Information Communication.


After his return, he has served as inspector and consultant in various offices of major policy-making national institutions such as: Korean Broadcasting Commission Researcher, Executive Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister, National Assembly, Board of Audit and Inspection, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information and Communication, Korea Communications Commission, Press Arbitration Commission, Korea Press Foundation, Journalists Association of Korea, KBS, MBC, IPTV Association, Cable TV Association, Researcher of Institution of National Security Strategy.


In the academic society, he also served as Vice President of the Press Law Society and the Public Law Society, and president of the Political Communications Society. He is also an ICT and media policy expert, winning the most prestigious award in the press law and policy field, "Cheolwoo Press Law Award", in 2019. He is currently a member of the President's Personal Information Protection Committee (Vice Minister level), the director of the Korea Broadcasting Culture Promotion Foundation, and the director of the school's Foreign Cooperation Office.


The Constitutional Law Association is the nation's most prestigious academic group that studies the basic rights and power structure of the people, consisting of about 900 members. Prof. Ji asserted his aspiration saying, “In the future, the Constitutional Law Association will contribute to the constitution's role in ‘indicating direction’ in ‘collecting and integrating the will of the people’ by setting the stage for fierce debate on the spirit of the times.”
