Department of Architecture Students, Sungmin Park and Jaemin Cho, won the Grand Prize at the 3rd Public Design National Idea Contest.

The ‘Public Design National Idea Contest’ is a contest that has been held since 2020 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Craft & Design Foundation to experience the value and importance of public design by finding solutions to the inconveniences in daily life through public design. This year, in addition to public design, a public campaign field was newly established under the slogan of ‘Infinite Imagination, OO Design’ to form a national consensus. In addition to the general section, the student section was added to the participation qualification to induce wider public participation.

Sungmin Park and Jaemin Cho won the Grand Prize (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award) for a plan to convert unpleasant air from subway vents into cool winds to lower urban temperatures and use the space around the vents as a resting place for citizens to sit and rest. It was highly praised for its idea to improve awareness of public facilities that can be negatively recognized by the general public as a positive target and for a complex public facility that provides both urban living environment improvement and user convenience.
