Jae-Hyun Seo (Confucian studies and eastern philosophy), Hae-Won Jin (Education), Na-Young Yoon (Economics), Winners of the Best Papers for 2020 Presidential Record Paper Contest

The Leading Leader’s team composed of 3 students (Jae-Hyun Seo (supervisor professor Do-Il Kim), Hye-Won Jin, and Na-Young Yoon) participating in BK21 Phase 4, won an award for the presidential record paper in 2020.

The contest for best papers on using presidential records is held every year under the supervision of the Presidential Archives to promote the public’s right to know and enhance the value of utilizing presidential records by supporting research using the presidential records.

This year, only two teams were selected as the best papers amid fierce competition. The Leading Leaders team, composed of students from our school, won the Best Paper award for “an analysis of caring democracy using presidential records”. The team identified child care policies and the perception of care subjects and changes in care types from the perspectives of care democracy as a legitimate way to realize democracy. The research received high marks for presenting new implications by using speech records and policy records of the Presidential Archives Portal DB.

Jae-Hyun Seo said, “I think we received a great evaluation for analyzing presidential records through social network analysis (SNA) and text mining analysis designed by ourselves. I hope we can provide strategic help to the development of the Presidential Archives in the future.”
