Completes Vietnam Global Ability Enhancement Program

- Research Vietnam’s start-up ecosystem and solutions for corporations willing to enter the area.

- Managed in the way of ‘United Networking method’ by Graduate School of Entrepreneurship and G-AEP

SKKU Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship (Headmaster Kyong-hwan Kim) announced that the global ability enhancement program, held from June 30th to July 3rd in Vietnam, was completed with success, which aimed to investigate Vietnam’s local start-up ecosystem, local market survey, and investment attraction. This program was organized for researching the rapid growth of venture corporations and the start-up ecosystem in Vietnam, along with an increase in demands for digital technology after the global pandemic COVID-19.


The program was not in action for 3 years due to COVID-19 and thus required for more detailed investigation of present local start-up conditions and technology-based start-ups that emerged after the COVID situation.


First, to understand Vietnam’s investment environment, they visited KOTRA Hanoi Trade Center. To search for start-up establishment opportunities, the overall understanding and features of Vietnam were studied through 12 keywords for understanding Vietnam. It also provided wide knowledge of investment attraction results in the COVID situation and the current economic cooperation situation between Korea and Vietnam.


Next, they had a field experience of future Vietnam’s center for science & technology and start-ups by visiting ‘Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park’. This industrial complex located 30km northwest of Hanoi has a vast area of 9,917,355m2, expected to have science & technology research centers, universities, and corporations. Also, by operating a global accelerator program, corporations in the future will have lower hurdles for entering the local market since it has a start-up task force and a suitable place for incubating. During this visit, SKKU Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship had a passionate discussion about corporations entering the local Vietnam market and methods to utilize networking/mentoring related to start-ups.

Other than these, the team sought global start-up trends, business models, and entering methods by visiting Vietnam start-up support office sharing and IoT technology emerged Hanoi Starlake-city construction site.

SKKU Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship expands the ecosystem of start-ups and enthusiastically supports/fosters corporations willing to enter the global market with innovative technologies. Every year, they are strengthening their global ability, visiting western US Silicon Valley, eastern US Washington DC, China’s Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, New market of Southeast Asia, and Vietnam.


The students can participate global start-up ecosystem research program, a global ability enhancement program, held in the USA, China, and Vietnam. What is noteworthy about this program is that not only normal students but also participants of the Global-Advanced Entrepreneurship Program united to open a place for a wide range of exchanges. There were discussions about entry method, business model, cooperation method, and research about opportunities of corporations willing to enter Southeast Asia, along with their investment attractiveness check based on various human resource pool that starts from start-up CEO who wants to operate in Vietnam or other oversea areas to entrepreneurship consultant, venture capital, accelerator.


The head of the Graduate School, Kyong-hwan Kim, who organized this Vietnam Global Ability Enhancement Program commented, “SKKU Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship is composed of corporations that have a suitable idea and product for the current global market and human resources that are capable of incubating. I hope this program allows people to have a wide-ranged understanding and chance to utilize Vietnam and Southeast Asia market as they become to have a market full of opportunities for investments and start-ups in this post-COVID era.”
