Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Crown Princess of Thailand, and Her entourage including the dignitaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and senior executives from the PTT Group, Thailand’s only Fortune 500 company, visited Sungkyunkwan University’s (SKKU) Natural Sciences Campus for benchmarking purposes.
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s visit was to observe and study SKKU’s industry-university collaboration with Samsung, because this partner-ship represents a successful model for the founda-tion of a new science and technology university by the PTT group in Rayong, Thailand.
During the visit, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the entourage toured the Samsung Library and the labs of Prof. Didier Pribat and Prof. Gi Ho Song. HRH also received first-hand information about SKKU's university-industry collaboration from Vice President for University-Industry Collaboration, Prof. Jae Boong Choi in a session moderated by Director of International Affairs Mr. Terrence Henderson.
SKKU President Jun Young Kim remarked about the visit: "We would like to express our heartfelt welcome for Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn and the whole entourage for having our university in mind for a benchmarking visit. SKKU is leaping towards global leading university status. We will seek for important partnership as well as [sharing] our educational programs."
