2016 SKKU-GUGC Joint Workshop for Furthering Scientific Collaboration

The SKKU-GUGC joint workshop for scientific collaboration was held on September 23, 2016 at the Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC) in Songdo, Incheon with the goal in mind to establish ties between the two esteemed universities for scholarly and student exchanges.

Dr. YOO Jibeom, Executive Vice President of SKKU Natural Sciences Campus, and Dr. HAN Taejun, Vice President of GUGC, opened up the first engagement event between SKKU and GUGC with a welcome address followed by presentation from Dr. KWON Young-Uk, Dean of SKKU College of Science, about what SKKU is like and ideas for future bilateral collaboration.

The SKKU delegation was comprised of 12 faculty members that were given a chance to have a campus tour looking around the research facilities and equipment during the workshop. Researchers of both SKKU and GUGC briefly explained their research fields, interests, and discoveries to the audiences and also had some question-and-answer sessions for in-depth understanding about each other.

It is expected to increase the overall awareness of GUGC for our faculty and students from which our university shall explore more possibilities for cooperation, not only with GUGC, but also with Ghent University, a leading university in Belgium well-known for its academic caliber and worldwide reputation.
