Dr. LIM Myeongok, who received her Ph.D. last month from SKKU's Department of Journalism and Information Communication, will start working as a professor in the field of communication at Loyola University in the USA from July. This is the first time in Loyola University's history that it has offered a tenured teaching position to someone who doesn't have any experience studying abroad.
For over 20 years, Dr. LIM worked at a company managing foreign corporate promotion and reputation-building. At the age of 36, she was appointed the CEO of a promotion consulting corporation. While working, she became ambitious to study further, so she registered in Yonsei University's Journalism and Promotion Graduate School. Finally, she resigned from her job and began the challenge of obtaining a Ph.D. degree from SKKU. Her dissertation subject was "Importance of Preventing Crisis by Looking Back at Corporations' Cases of Failure".
Dr. LIM aimed to become a professor at a US university during her Ph.D. years. She applied to twenty universities and received positive calls from four. "I gave teaching demonstrations to students and their questions didn't stop even after the class finished. I could sense that I would receive an offer," said Dr. Lim.
