SUNGKYUNKWAN UNIVERSITY (SKKU), SEOUL, KOREA
The "7th Russian Debating Contest for Graduate Students" was held on May 19th (Fri) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. The contest was organized through the joint sponsorship of the HK Research Unit at the Institute of Russian Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and The Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Korea.
Twenty students who participated in the contest were given three debate subjects: (1) The similarities and differences between Russian and Korean culture, (2) A life without smartphones, and (3) what is the meaning of revolution to us? Student LEE Hyojin (Admission Year: 2013, Dept. of Russian Language and Literature) from SKKU won the competition. She received a round trip ticket to Moskva and the opportunity to have a short training course at Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.
This event has been held every year since 2011 in order to increase graduate students' interest in Russia and to cultivate talented individuals.
