The 6th Sungkyun International Solar Forum (SISF) was held at 600th Anniversary Hall at Sungkyunkwan University from June 14 (Wed) to June 16 (Fri), 2017. The Sungkyun International Solar Forum was first held in 2011, and it is recognized as the Korean representative international forum in which prestigious researchers of solar cell discuss and share their research results.
Korea leads the perovskite solar cell field. The chairman of the SISF, Park Namgyu, who is a pioneer in the perovskite solar cell field, developed a solid type of solar cells for the first time. Since it can be a substitute for existing materials for solar cells and it can also be applied to a variety of high-tech fields, it is considered an innovative technology mentioned for the Nobel Prize.
In the forum, many of the world's great scholars gathered. Twenty-six invited speakers from nine countries, including great scholars Dr. Michael Gratzel (EPFL, Switzerland), Dr. Ted Sargent an authority on quantum dot optoelectronic devices (U Toronto, Canada), Dr. Yang Yang an expert on organic electronics (UCLA, USA), Dr. Parashant Kamat, the Editor-in-Chief of ACS Energy Letters (Notre Dame Univ., USA), and Dr. Tom Miyasaka, one of the pioneers of perovskite solar cells (Toin Univ., Japan) participated. In particular, realization of innovation in the solar cell technology from basics to commercialization of perovskite solar cells was actively discussed.
SKKU President, Dr. CHUNG Kyusang, said, "As interest in clean energy for the future is growing, I am so delighted that our university is leading the improvement of national research competitiveness by developing new materials and devices that can accelerate the commercialization of solar cells."
