On May 10th, the evaluation results for the 20 universities that participated in the Beyond Research and Innovation Development for Good Enterprises (BRIDGE) project were announced. Sungkyunkwan University received an "excellent" score.

The BRIDGE project was introduced by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea to assist in the commercialization of outstanding technologies owned by universities so that the creative assets can become sophisticated intellectual properties. The Ministry of Education plans to spend a total of 15 billion won on the project from 2015 to 2017. Over the past two years, the project has made a profit of 41 billion won as a result of 1465 of technology transfers.

The evaluation was conducted in consideration of technological entrepreneurship, technology transfer, the number of officials involved in commercialization, last year's performance, and plans for next year. Ratings of "excellent", "good'", and "standard" were given depending on the evaluation results, and operating expenses will be given in accordance with the rating. Four universities, including SKKU, received an "excellent" rating. SKKU made strategic plans targeting patent litigation and compensation for damages in the US.

"Interest and participation in university technology commercialization is getting larger through the BRIDGE project. I hope this project can support transferring creative ideas into actual businesses," said KIM Younggon, an official from the Ministry of Education.
