On May 18th, Yunmin Kim and Hyungjoon Choi, students of the Department of Russian Language and Literature, received the grand prize and gold prize at the 8th University Russian Debate Contest.
Students who studied more than three months in Russia were group "A" and who did not were group "B". Yunmin won a grand prize in preliminary group "A" and Hyungjoon got a gold prize in preliminary group "B". Serious topics were discussed during the semifinal and final, such as "Similarities and Differences between Korea and Russia" and "Youth Unemployment".
Russian Debate Contest has been hosted by the Russian Laboratory at Hanguk University of Foreign Studies and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Korea since 2011.
Yunmin, winner of the grand prize, got flight tickets to Moscow and the qualification to participate in the short-term study abroad program in Pusikin University. Hyungjoon got the gold prize with 50 thousand won and the right to take part in the short-term study abroad program at Nizhni Novgorod University.
