The President of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat, visited SKKU on October 30th and met with SKKU professors including Executive Vice President Sunhae HYUN, Prof. Ho Deok HWANG, and Prof. Yong Tae KIM. They discussed ways to promote bilateral exchange and cooperation in the field of Korean Studies and academic-industrial cooperation.
After the establishment of the Korean Studies Department in 1994, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City has been promoting Korean Studies and has accommodated about 3,000 Korean students annually as trainees.
Based on this background, the two universities discussed exchange plans between the Korean Studies Department at VNU and the International Center for Korean Studies (IUC). They also decided to share academic-industrial cooperation and know-how in the field of start-ups.
Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City was founded by the Vietnamese Prime Minister's Office in 1955. It is known for having the largest Korean studies department in Vietnam. It contributes to the development of Ho Chi Minh City with a focus on four major areas of urban development (sewage treatment, transportation, start-ups, and smart city).
