Sungkyun Institute of China Studies (SICS) Named Korea's Best Chinese Research Think Tank

Sungkyun Institute of China Studies (SICS) (Director, Prof. Hee Ok Lee, Department of Political Science & Diplomacy) was ranked 12th in the foreign affairs and national security section of the 100 think tanks of Korea in 2020, rising two steps from the previous year.

It was again selected as the only single institution to conduct Chinese studies and was externally evaluated as the most trusted research institution for its outstanding achievements in competition with research institutions that advocate the institution for foreign affairs and national security or state-run research institutions that have invested huge amounts of financial and human resources.

Sungkyun Institute of China Studies (SICS) has established itself as one of Korea's leading academic institutions for Chinese research by publishing discourse-leading books on Chinese policies and changes, a quarterly journal called Sungkyun China Brief that discusses recent issues, academics, and policies four times a year, and the Journal of Chinese Social Sciences, which is a professional academic journal focused on Chinese social science two times a year.

In addition, it continues its activities through winning research projects from the government, corporations, and others, conducting joint research, and co-hosting international seminars. Recently, it received favorable comments in the areas of academia and policy making for quickly publishing trends in the face of COVID-19.

*Sungkyun Institute of China Studies (SICS) was ranked 27th in 2017, 18th in 2018, and 14th in 2019.
