Sungkyunkwan University’s Departments of Dance and Fashion Design Hold Non-contact Shows

The Department of Dance and the Department of Fashion Design at SKKU held a graduation show without physical contact due to the severity of the Covid-19 pandemic from July 10 to July 12, 2020.

Na Ye Kim Movement Collective (NKMC), which is led by Department of Dance Professor Na Ye Kim, performed a modern dance show for graduation in an outdoor parking lot of SKKU's Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.

The show was performed in a drive-in form to overcome the limit of interaction with audiences in the Covid-19 pandemic. The theme of the show reflected the poem "Crow's Eyes View" by Yi Sang, modernizing the anxiety of people in colonial era and applying it to modern-day Korean's anxiety.

The Department of Fashion Design also delivered a graduation work exhibition called "CONNECT" digitally on July 6, 2020. This was the first attempt among the universities in Korea.

Sixty graduating students participated in the exhibition, applying their own fashion designs and brand portfolios as well as showing 3D-rendered shapes of clothing.
