SKKU and Intel Korea Sign MOU for University-Industry AI Education and Research Collaboration

- Promoting fostering AI professionals and establishing infrastructure for research
- Operating and jointly developing curriculum for SKK-Intel AI Class

SKKU announced that it will promote fostering AI professionals and establish an infrastructure for research through collaboration with Intel Korea (CEO, Myungsuk Kwan). The MOU ceremony was held the Natural Science Campus on October 14 (Wed).

Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to cooperate in various fields, including the joint development and operation of an SKK-Intel AI Class and the establishment of infrastructure and joint research in the field of AI.

Last November, SKKU declared its vision for AI research and education for student success and the creation of future value. The University put forth effort to foster human resources suitable for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In a related development, Sungkyunkwan University designed two subjects, "Problem-Solving & Algorithms" and "Computing Thinking & SW Coding", as essential courses for all students, and introduced convergence majors such as "Data Science" and "Informatics".

In addition, the AI/IoT Education Support Center under Sungkyunkwan University's College of Information and Communication Engineering, which has an exclusive laboratory for AI/IoT education, was established in June of 2020. The AI/IoT Education Support Center will jointly organize and operate the SKK-Intel AI Class based on this agreement.

Myungsuk Kwan said, "With this agreement, SKKU students will be able to learn about various forms of data collection and preprocessing through AI education programs. Also, it is very meaningful to foster future talents through collaboration, and we hope to continue to cooperate in establishing infrastructure and LMS servers in the future."

SKKU President Dong Ryeol Shin said, "This agreement will provide our students with the latest AI knowledge and excellent research environment which is essential in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Also, we will work closely with Intel Korea to ensure student success and create future value."
