Professors Ki-Kang Kim, Jae-Yoon Kim, Chang-Hyun Bang, and Jae-Chul Lee Selected the Next Generation Scientists to Lead Korea

The Korean Academy of Science and Technology selected 34 young scientists who stand out as members of the Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology (Y-KAST) on September 2021.

The KAST selects researchers with excellent academic performance among young scientists under the age of 43 who are likely to become next-generation science and technology leaders. As Y-KAST members, they are expected to contribute to the development of Korea's science and technology by working as independent researchers in Korea after obtaining their doctorates.

The average age of the members selected this year is 39.6 years old, and Sungkyunkwan University Professors Ki-Kang Kim, Jae-Yoon Kim, Chang-Hyun Bang, and Jae-Chul Lee, have been selected as member of the Y-KAST.

The term of office of the selected professors will be three years from January 2021, and it is possible for them to serve a consecutive term until the age of 45 after being evaluated.

KAST President Min-Koo Han said, "In order to solve the problems facing humanity, innovative and creative thinking by young scientists is essential. On behalf of the older generation of scientists, we will try to establish an environment in which young scientists can grow into responsible researchers."
