Professor Kaoru Hayano from Japan Women's University is a leading scholar in the field of conversation analysis. Her research focuses on the fine-grained details of social interaction, including turn-taking, repair, and how participants' knowledge (epistemics) is managed grammatically. She holds a Ph.D. from Radboud University Nijmegen and an M.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
