세대 간 사회이동성은 가족구성과 출산에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 본 연구는 (1) 상대적 사회이동성과 절대적 사회이동성을 구분하고; (2) 세대 간 사회이동성을 개인 수준의 경험을 넘어서는 사회적 맥락의 핵심 요인으로 개념화하며; (3) 상대적 사회이동성과 절대적 사회이동성의 역할에 대한 상이한 이론적 관점들을 경험적으로 검증하고자 한다. 이를 위해 한국노동패널 자료와 사건사 분석 모형을 이용하여 각 사회이동성의 상대적 영향력을 추정하고 성별 차이를 가늠해본다. 나아가 초저출산화 사회에서 사회계층화의 구조가 가족구성과 출산에 가지는 함의를 논의한다.

How does intergenerational social mobility matter for family formation and childbearing? To address this question, this study (1) distinguishes between relative and absolute mobility; (2) conceptualizes intergenerational mobility as a central social contextual factor shaping demographic behaviors; and (3) empirically evaluates competing theoretical perspectives on the roles of relative and absolute mobility. Using data from the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (KLIPS) and event history analysis, the present research estimates the relative influence of each type of social mobility and assesses gender differences. The study discusses the implications of the structure of social stratification for family formation and parenthood in an era of lowest-low fertility.
