Techcode and Sungkyunkwan University's (SKKU) Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Techcode is a startup incubator established through public-private cooperation between the Chinese government and Tsinghua University. Besides lending space, Techcode provides systematic support such as capital, mentors, and education programs for startup companies.
Dr. Kim Gyeonghwan, professor of the SKKU Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship, stressed the importance of a global platform like Techcode, emphasized the need for a foray into overseas markets, and outlined the present situation of Korean startup companies. At each stage of development, Techcode's networked incubation system integrates key innovative elements from around the world. Techcode Seoul is the 8th branch followed by existing branches located in China (Shanghai, Guan, Beijing, Shenzhen), Germany (Berlin), Israel (Tel Aviv), and US (Silicon valley). It is first venture incubator center in Asia outside China.
Erica Huang, CEO of Techcode, attended the inauguration ceremony and said, "Seoul has experienced economic development for several decades, and it has stood at the beginning of internet innovation." She also mentioned that the purpose of Techcode is a win-win relationship between Korea and China. By introducing Korean ventures to the Chinese market, it is expected that Korean companies will receive benefits and China should get a chance to raise the level of its industry too.
