As a rapid increase of demand for artificial intelligence (AI) talents, the government has started to support the establishment of graduate schools specializing in AI to develop AI talents. Sungkyunkwan University's Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence also opened in November 2019 with the aim of training 300 talents for five years.
In 2020, in its first year, SKKU's Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence made significant achievements, including winning the Grande Challenge for Artificial Intelligence (R&D), topping the Biz Drone Challenge in the object detection area, and ranking second in image classification in the Korea Health Datathon.
SKKU's Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence is clear. It aims to foster talents who will realize MEGA AI rather than the simple development of AI.
Currently, machine learning AI is difficult to apply to areas that have not been learned, which is why hardware is included in the Graduate School of AI's curriculum.
They are operating an autonomous research program to encourage AI development that can be used in industry. As of 2020, 34 teams are active. The school plans to provide opportunities for students to gain work experience through internship programs.
