해외저명대학 교수 초청 글로벌 수업은 본교 교원과 해외저명대학 교원이 함께 만드는 수준 높은 수업을 학생들에게 제공하여 본교 교육 수준 제고 및 글로벌 학습 플랫폼을 구축하고, 이를 통해 해외저명대학 교원 간의 공동연구를 추진하는 등 글로벌 연구 플랫폼 구축의 토대 마련을 위하여 올해부터 진행하고 있다.

2. 특강 주제 및 내용:
 - 10월 5일: How our planet became green
The origin of oxygenic photosynthesis in cyanobacteria fundamentally changed the trajectory of life on Earth, shifting us to an oxygen-rich atmosphere. The subsequent transfer of photosynthetic capacity to algae and plants through primary endosymbiosis revitalized aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, making possible the rise of animals and, ultimately, humans. In this lecture, I will discuss how the photosynthetic organelle, the plastid, originated in eukaryotes and the many remarkable genetic innovations that were needed to ensure survival of this organelle. Overall, we can think of primary endosymbiosis as a steep wall that must be scaled, rather than the steady accumulation of mutations, to allow survival of the nascent organelle. I refer to this as the endosymbiotic ratchet, which helps explain why primary endosymbiosis is so rare.
