The completion ceremony for the Smart Energy Campus was held on April 23rd at the Natural Sciences Campus. Vice President Sungjin SONG, Director Jonghwan LEE (Korea Electric Power Corporation, hereafter KEPCO), President Sunghwan BAE (KEPCO-ES), and many other key figures joined the ceremony to commemorate the successful completion of the SKKU Smart Energy Campus, which will become the foundation for the expansion of the K-SEM based energy efficient campus project.
K-SEM (KEPCO Smart Energy Management): Energy management technology that increases efficiency while decreasing cost by finding a perfect energy mix after analysis/control of electricity, gas, and heat usage of clients.
The Smart Energy Campus project is a coexistence business model between SKKU and KEPCO, which aims to decrease/save the cost of energy and use it in making investments. KEPCO-ES will make an up-front investment to construct energy efficient facilities and ESS (Energy Storage Systems).
SKKU established the agreement for the "Smart Energy Campus" project with KEPCO and KEPCO-ES on Sept. 19, 2018. Since then, it has promoted installing high-efficient LED lights and ESS to construct the K-SEM. With this project it is estimated that SKKU will save up to 1 billion KRW each year in energy and realize a perfect environment for energy efficiency.
Vice President Sungjin SONG said, "The completion of the SKKU Smart Energy Campus serves as a great momentum for the national project in the new energy industry. SKKU will continue to promote the energy efficiency project to become a standard model for using efficient energy."
