Skkrypto Wins Grand Prize at 2018 Gyeonggi Blockchain Hackerton Competition

Skkrypto, which was selected as the best club by the WE-UP Center, won the grand prize at the 2018 Gyeonggi Blockchain Hackerton Competition. This competition was held on August 29th at Gyeonggi Economic Innovation Center in order to find and demonstrate ideas for blockchain start-ups and solving social issues. There were 80 participants (25 teams) who are interested in blockchain stat-ups at the event, including students, employees, and aspiring entrepreneurs; 6 teams won prizes.

Skkrypto had been preparing for the 2018 Gyeonggi Blockchain Hackerton Competition over summer vacation and won the grand prize for developing a system that can easily handle complaints on buses based on blockchains.

Even though Skkrypto started its full-scale activities last March, it has been continuously making achievements such as receiving a silver prize at the "IoT & Blockchain Security Hacker Tone" event hosted by KISA, Samsung Electronics, and SKT June 2018.

Prof. Sungho HWANG (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering), who is a chair of the WE-UP center, said, "I was very surprised by the students' passion and commitment to blockchain technology. I hope they can continue to build their careers in this field after they graduate."
