Chingis Oinar, a nineteen-year-old from Kazakhstan, is a freshman majoring in Software who is starting his fall semester. Since he was young, he was influenced significantly by Steve Jobs, which made him have a passion for programming.
When questioned why he chose to study in Korea he answered, "I feel somehow my life is connected to Korea." Chingis' mother did an exchange program in Korea before and his sister is currently studying in in Korea as well, so he feels that his path also lies in Korea. He has been curious about the Korean lifestyle and way of thinking, which also helped lead him to Korea. Plus, he felt that he would be able to expand his mind and build better leadership skills in a new environment.
One of things that motivated Chingis to join SKKU was the special opportunity offered to him. He was nominated for the Samsung Global Sungkyun Scholarship Program, which is a new scholarship program established by SKKU. Since he was selected to be in the first group of scholars for the program, Chingis felt he needed to get the most out of the opportunity and work passionately to fulfill his dream of becoming a top level programmer.
"I feel really happy that I was given the chance to study here. Due to the good environment at SKKU, I am inspired to study hard and improve myself. I want to thank Sungkyunkwan University for this golden opportunity, and I will try my best to achieve my dreams."
