Professor Jibeom Yoo Elected as the 22nd SKKU President
The SKKU Foundation (Chief Director Jun Young Kim) assembled the board of directors on October 27th where they elected Professor Jibeom Yoo (School of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering) as the 22nd SKKU President.
The new President Yoo, 63 years old by this year, graduated from Seoul National University Metal Engineering in 1982 and achieved his Master's degree at the same school which continued to his Doctor's degree in Material Engineering at Stanford University (US).
After his academic years and period as senior researcher at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), he was appointed to SKKU in 1994 and served as Director of the Center for Engineering Education Innovation, Vice President of SAINT, Dean of the Engineering College, Vice President of the Natural Science Campus and Head of Industry-Academic Cooperation Group. etc. From this January was dispatched to the National Research Foundation of Korea as Director of the National Research Project.
For the great leap towards the future, the SKKU Foundation announced that the new President Yoo was elected with a consensus since the board of directors judged him to be the right person to demonstrate driving leadership and new changes & innovations based on various internal and external experiences he has accumulated so far.
The new President Yoo's term in office will be from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2026 for 4 years.
