Sungkyunkwan University and the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT) Sign a Joint Research Exchange Meeting and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

-Contributing to the Activation of Collaborative Research, Talent Development, and Academic Exchange for Convergent Research and Global Talent Cultivation

On the 18th (Wed), our university, represented by President Ji-beom Yoo, initiated a research exchange meeting with the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), led by Director Young-kook Lee. The purpose of this meeting was to enhance cooperation in joint research and promote talent development and academic exchange. During the meeting, they formalized the collaboration through the signing of an MOU.

This event marks the beginning of an enhanced collaboration between the two institutions. Both organizations plan to promote research in the 12 major national strategic technology areas and carbon neutrality. This collaboration aims to secure the foundation for addressing technological gaps and fostering outstanding research talents in various fields.

The research exchange meeting began with an introduction of the core research capabilities of both institutions and discussions on ways to enhance cooperation in joint research areas. They explored specific avenues for cooperation, such as the formation of joint research teams, support for research projects, and the exchange of personnel through the dispatch of Sungkyunkwan University students to the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, as well as the faculty exchange program.

The specific joint research areas include national strategic technologies such as lithium secondary batteries, displays, and hepatitis virus treatments, as well as carbon neutrality-related fields like biomass production and carbon dioxide conversion technologies.

Both institutions possess research capabilities spanning various aspects of the field of chemistry, including chemical processes, chemical materials, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, precision and biochemistry, and chemical platforms. This extensive coverage will maximize the strengths of the institutions in research areas like carbon neutrality and the 12 major national strategic technologies, contributing to the resolution of technological gaps and the creation of synergies.

In the future, Sungkyunkwan University and the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology will continue to explore collaborative initiatives, strengthening their cooperative framework for joint research and personnel exchange. This cooperation is expected to contribute to the development of global scientific and technological talent and the creation of significant achievements.

President Ji-beom Yoo stated, "We look forward to the synergy of high-quality research outcomes through the academic-industrial collaboration between the two institutions. We will continue to support the development of promising technologies that lead the way into the future
