Celebrating 30 Years Anniversary of Homecoming Day for the ’93 Alumni

-'Together for 30 years, Together for 50 years'

-14 Individuals from the Class of '93 Awarded Proud Sungkyunian Awards

The 30th-anniversary Homecoming Day for the class of '93 was successfully held on Saturday, the 28th of last month, at 2 p.m. at the 600th Anniversary Hall, 5th floor, Humanities and Social Sciences Campus of the University.

Prior to the event, well-known figures representing the class of '93, such as the actress Moon So-ri and the rising volleyball player Shin Jin-sik, welcomed the organizing committee and attendees at the entrance photo wall.

Starting with the opening speech by Lee Hyun-jong, the chairman of the organizing committee (Law), the atmosphere at the event was heartwarming from the beginning, with warm welcoming speeches by President Ji-beom Yoo and Alumni Association President Sung-jib Kim. The highlight of the Homecoming Day event, the 'Proud Sungkyunian Awards for the class of '93,' generated an enthusiastic atmosphere. These awards in the categories of Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, Wisdom, and Merit honor 14 individuals who have contributed to the nation and brought prestige to our university in their respective fields.

Since March, the '93 alumni preparation committee successfully raised approximately 100 million won through a campaign for supporting their juniors and academic events. The Financial Director, Jae-won Lee (Business), presented this fund to President Ji-beom Yoo, displaying love for their alma mater and their juniors. Following this, Hyun-jong Lee, the chairman of the preparation committee, handed over a memorial plaque to Jo Jeong-hwan, a junior from the Law Department class of '94, urging for continued love for the school and juniors in the coming years.

After a high-caliber ballet performance by the National Ballet Company, the first part of the event concluded, and when the Kingo cheering squad began the second part, all '93 alumni stood up, dancing together, elevating the energy of the event. Particularly, In-guk Kim (Physical Education), who was the cheering squad leader 30 years ago, showcased his skills by dancing on stage with his junior colleagues to the song 'Dawn Rain.' The celebratory atmosphere intensified further with a congratulatory stage by trot singer In-sun Hwang ('05 Dance), leading to a raffle and a toast, concluding the joyful and vibrant second part of the festival.

The autographed volleyball by Jin-sik Shin (limited to 20 balls) became a highlight of the raffle, causing a frenzy due to its popularity and rarity, with everyone busily taking photos.

Just when it seemed the second part was ending, the return of the Kingo cheering squad to the stage for an encore performance received thunderous applause from the disappointed crowd. They closed the event with the popular song 'To You,' and all the '93 alumni present poured their remaining passion to their alma mater, concluding the event.

Hyun-jong Lee, the chairman of the '93 alumni Homecoming Day preparation committee (representing Bigster), who organized the event, expressed, 'I was happy to prepare this event with friends I met in March. I will continue to maintain my connection with beloved classmates and continue to assist the class of '94 next year in every way to ensure the 30th-anniversary event continues as an exemplary model for Sungkyunkwan University.'"
