According to the National Research Foundation of Korea, SKKU Consortium (Research Director: Prof. Hwan Soo HAN from the Dept. of Computer Engineering at SKKU) which consists of various universities and corporations including UNIST, SKU, Manicore Soft, etc., has been nominated for the High-Performance Computing(HCP) Localization Project.
With the aim to secure core technology in the field of high-performance computing and to cultivate researchers, this business is expected to become the center of Korea’s research on super computer.
For the research unit selected as a final candidate, there is a research fund of 25 billion KRW to be expensed over 5 years; and the research unit will develop systems such as system SW, applied SW, and HW system.
SKKU Consortium will operate through two divisions; ▲Applied Software (Seoul National University, UNIST), and ▲System Software (SKKU, Seoul National University, Manicore Soft, SKT).
Hwan Soo HAN, the director of the research institute said, “There are high needs involved with ‘Super Computing Technology Development’, which can have an effect on the industry of system software, focused on imbedded and mobile technology.”
