2022 SKKU Summer Commencement Ceremony Held Offline in 3 Years

  • - Held in Humanities and Social Sciences Campus New Millennium Hall with 2,978 graduates
  • - Congratulatory remarks by Jong-Ki Kim, founder of The Blue Tree Foundation

The 2022 SKKU Summer Commencement was held on August 25 (Thur) at Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.

This was the first offline commencement ceremony since 2019, with 1,480 Bachelor’s degrees, 1,220 Master’s degrees, and 278 doctorate degrees, a total of 2,978 degrees.

Prior to the main ceremony, the SKKU president and other faculty members visited Sungkyunkwan Daeseongjeon Shrine to hold a ceremony called ‘Ko-yu-rae’ to announce the graduation of 2,978 people. A number of media officials covered SKKU’s unique graduation scenery. ‘Ko-yu-rae’ refers to the unique ritual of visiting Confucius’ shrine and announcing it when there are major events such as admission, graduation, and building construction of a school.

In particular, alumni Jong-Ki Kim, founder and honorary chairman of The Blue Tree Foundation, who has been working hard to prevent school violence for 27 years, attended the ceremony and delivered warm congratulations and support messages to the graduates. In addition, the graduates enjoyed the glorious moment of graduation by watching musicals and celebratory performances produced by their juniors.
