The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) on May 12 announced that they have selected 20 universities for its ‘University Creative Asset Commercialization Support Program’; and Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) was assessed as to be the best in the ‘University & Industry Collaboration Type’ selectees.
The University Creative Asset Commercialization Support Program is divided into two categories, University & Industry Collaboration Type and Research Innovation Type. In the University & Industry Collaboration Type group, SKKU was assessed as the best out of a list of 7 major universities including Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Korea University and others.
The selected universities are expected to receive yearly grants in the amount of 500 million won to 1 billion won(Average 750 million.) for 3 years, and will be carrying out analyses on industry research trends, R&BD, oversea’s patent design etc. They will be able to conduct fusion R&BD, combining different fields, and prototype production, through a team of commercialization professionals consisting of patent lawyers and industrial trend specialists.
